It’s been three seasons since former Kerman High quarterback Ashton Chalabian got a chance to throw the ball that ended in a touchdown.

His wait finally came to an end Saturday.

He took a handoff from Ryan Markarian and ran to the right and pumped fake and finally found Andreas Spriggs back in the end zone for a 13-yard score in the third quarter.

That helped Fresno City to a 21-7 victory over City College of San Francisco in a junior college football game at Ratcliffe Stadium.

Chalabian threw for 2,933 yards and 20 touchdowns in three seasons as the Kerman quarterback.

It’s no wonder why Tony Caviglia trusted his running back to make a play.

“Coach C put it in the playbook,” Chalabian said. “I saw him down there and I trusted my receiver and gave him a chance.”

Spriggs said they practiced the play all week.

It worked to perfection. he said.

“He threw it up and I got to come down with it,” Spriggs said. “So I got to take care of it.”
