Zara Tindall chokes back tears in emotional moment with Mike Tindall
by Mathew Davies, Hanisha Sethi · Wales OnlinePrincess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, couldn't help but get emotional on the debut episode of her husband Mike Tindall's YouTube series, 'Mike Drop'. Movingly, she discussed her experience as a mother and her commendable sporting achievements during their conversation in January 2023.
The pair, sitting down for a heartfelt 30-minute exchange on the channel, delved into Zara's equestrian successes, notably with her Olympics horse 'High Kingdom', which brought her a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Zara also reminisced about her remarkable start, securing two golds at her senior debut during the 2005 European Championships and further claiming individual gold and team silver at the World Equestrian Games the following year.
She expressed her delight at being able to compete and win for the late Trevor Hemmings, the owner of High Kingdom, reflecting on the cherished victory. Emotionally recounting past events, Zara acclaimed: "We managed to get him [High Kingdom] to the Olympics, which was incredible. Trev Trevor Hemmings has won so many amazing things in his racing career, Grand Nationals and things like that."
The Queen's grand-daughter fought back tears as she reflected on her Olympic journey, adding: "But to see his face at the Olympics and to get that team medal was amazing."
She added: "And to be able to give something back to him when he had supported me for so long was incredible. I'm going to get emotional," reports the Express.
Zara and her husband Mike have been happily married for 13 years, having exchanged vows at Canongate Kirk on July 30, 2011.
Rugby star Mike praised her dedication during their conversation, noting that she often puts her owners and horses first, sometimes to her own detriment. The royal couple share three children, daughters Mia and Lena, and a boy, Lucas. Outside of royal and sports engagements, Zara is known to spend as much time as she can as a mum of three at home with her family.
During the interview, Zara also candidly discussed the challenges of balancing motherhood and her career, including dealing with "mum guilt" and getting back in shape after giving birth to Mia, Lena and Lucas. She confessed to her husband: "I found it hard getting myself back to it. Mentally, you feel guilty as a mother leaving your child to go and do something else."
Zara and Mike's love story began when they met during the Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003. Their engagement was announced in December 2010, with Mike proposing to Zara with "a custom-designed diamond and platinum ring with a divided diamond band".
The family resides at Aston Farm, a seven-bedroom farmhouse nestled within the Princess Royal's Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.
This estate is conveniently located near King Charles's Highgrove home - a residence that is known to be the monarch's pride and joy.
