Motorsport icon Michael Schumacher is reportedly due for his second public outing off the back of his daughter's wedding.

The Manchester Evening News has reported the Formula 1 legend recently made his first public appearance in nearly a decade by attending his daughter Gina's wedding. The much-loved sporting figure was believed to be present as 27-year-old Gina tied the knot with Iain Bethke at their lavish Majorca home near the posh Port d'Andratx.

The Schumacher family endured a traumatic time after seven-time world champion Michael suffered life-changing brain injuries when he fell during a skiing trip in Grenoble in December 2013. He spent several months in a medically induced coma before being brought back to his Lake Geneva residence in September 2014.

Dedicated wife Corinna and a team of health professionals have cared for him away from the limelight since then. Though updates on Schumacher's health have remained closely guarded, it's believed he was able to witness his daughter's nuptials first-hand.

Reports suggested steps were taken to maintain confidentiality during the ceremony; guests were asked not to bring mobile phones, and the press was excluded - this was referenced by local publication Ultima Hora (via The Standard). Despite the hush surrounding the event, however, Gina shared one snapshot of the couple post-wedding, captioning the image: "Forever yes to you, yes forever."

It's a busy period of personal news for the family after Mick Schumacher, Michael's son, also became engaged to long-term girlfriend Laila Hasanovic. Model Hasanovic has teased potential nuptials with Schumacher Jr, which now appears to be confirmed.

A suggestive photo was shared on Instagram by the bride-to-be, featuring a ring-adorned hand alongside the caption: "Then it's game over." Mick, 25, is yet to broadcast the development to his own social media following, though that appears only a matter of time. Dad Michael, therefore, is expected to be in attendance come their wedding, given he was able to see Gina get married.

On the professional front for Mick, his future in racing seems less certain. Following his exit from Haas at the end of 2022, he's taken up a back-up role at Mercedes and faces slim chances of claiming a senior driving seat in time for 2025.

Hopes were pinned on Sauber being the next port of call for Schumacher, but it appears Valtteri Bottas is the preferred choice for an extended contract. That's after recent comments made by chief technical officer Matt Binotto that seemed to dismiss Schumacher's chances.
