Jake Paul breaks boxing rule and sparks uproar before Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, has caused a stir in the boxing world by posting a video of himself knocking down a sparring partner, breaking an unspoken rule of the sport. Currently, Paul is gearing up for his eagerly awaited bout with Mike Tyson, which is due to take place in Texas in less than a month.

The match was originally set for July but was delayed after Tyson developed an inflamed ulcer and was advised to rest. While Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight world champion, has shared little footage from his training sessions, Paul has been keeping his fans updated.

He recently posted a video on social media showing him knocking down sparring partner DeAndre Savage. Savage, a heavyweight, has won six out of his eight professional fights, all by knockout.

His other two matches were declared no-contests due to injuries and accidental blows. However, Paul's decision to share the video has drawn criticism as it goes against the generally accepted boxing code that what happens in sparring stays in the gym.

This isn't the first time such an incident has occurred - back in 2016, Chris Eubank Jr faced backlash from future opponent Nick Blackwell for sharing a video of himself knocking out a sparring partner, according to the Mirror, reports Birmingham Live.

Blackwell slammed Eubank Jr for his actions, exclaiming: "He put a video up on social media, for the whole world to see, of him knocking out a kid who hasn't even had a pro fight and it's disgusting. The amateur kid is building his confidence and trying to learn from a so-called professional, but somehow Eubank Jr takes pride in exploiting him like that."

He went on to add, "I've put more than one world champion down in the gym over the years but I don't go around bragging about it. And the idea of filming it and putting up a clip on social media is just embarrassing. I think Eubank Jr is so disrespectful. He should be ashamed of himself. But this is the sort of thing the Eubanks do. They like to be controversial, they like to get people talking, and they don't care what anyone thinks of them. They've also got nobody around them brave enough to pull them up on any of it."

Critical boxing fans voiced their opinions on Paul's video, with one commenting: "That was a horrible sparring partner" and another remarking: "He's in for a rude awakening if he's comparing that dude to Tyson". Others joined in the criticism with one saying: "Big Mike going to take bro's head off his shoulders" and someone else pointedly remarking: "That dude had zero head movement, one of Mike's best attributes."
