The Mets’ playoff-opening win had all the hallmarks of a surge that isn’t slowing down

Like the local 7 train their fans hope to ride out to Citi Field at least once more in 2024, the Mets just keep going and going — no matter how many times it seems as if they’ll be stopped on the way.

The Mets rallied from two deficits to grab an 8-4 victory over the Brewers in Tuesday evening’s Game 1, seizing control of the best-of-three wild-card series on the road.

If last week’s rainouts were dark political comedy and this past weekend was drama and Monday’s clincher in Atlanta was a historical epic, this series opener had the familiar beats of a CBS procedural: early conflict, pieces coming together in the middle, satisfying ending.

Call it “OMG: Milwaukee.”
