Why Kelly Stafford was upset with Vikings fans after Rams win

· New York Post

Kelly Stafford didn’t like what she saw during the Vikings-Rams game at SoFi Stadium last Thursday.

During the latest installment of her “Timeout” podcast, Stafford, the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, recalled seeing Minnesota fans cheering when a Los Angeles player was down with an injury.

“Fans cheering during injuries … it’s enough,” Stafford said before letting out a deep sigh. “I’m not going to sit here and rail on fans because you guys are also the reason they get to play the sport they love. But I do think there is some sort of line that is getting crossed that should never be crossed, and that is cheering when your player or the other team’s player is down.

“These are people that have families. This is their livelihood. So, to cheer as you kind of watch their dreams crumble, I’m not really a fan of that.”

Kyra Stevens, her producer, who also appeared on the podcast, recalled seeing Vikings fans celebrating when the injury occurred.

“On Thursday night during our game … a majority of the vikings fans were cheering. Saw that with my own eyes,” Stevens, who took in the game from a suite with Stafford.

“Yes, I think I looked at you, they were doing the skol chant while we had a player down,” Stafford said. “And, you know, again — it just shouldn’t happen. It really just shouldn’t happen. We are all better people than that.”

Stafford and Stevens did not share which player was injured and when it occurred.

Stafford went on to share some advice about fan behavior on gameday.

“When you’re at a game and you see someone go down, let’s just think about the individual and not about the sport or the team — or your fantasy f–king football team that I don’t give a s–t about … We just gotta be human in that.”

Stafford also brought up how she didn’t agree with those who booed Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson when he suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon in a Week 7 loss to the Bengals.

However, the negative behavior from fans didn’t seem to ruin Stafford’s night.

The blonde beauty was dancing in a suite at SoFi Stadium, as seen in a photo on social media.

“Welp…my dance moves are embarrassing,” Stafford wrote Tuesday on her Instagram Story. “But this is the first game I’ve been tipsy at since moving to L.A.

“Dance moves bad, but level of anxiety was low…I’ll take it.”

Stafford explained on her “Morning After” podcast that she threw a tailgate party with “some of the players’ wives and girlfriends and moms” and played flip cup.

“That game was so much fun and I did drink, which I normally don’t do,” she said.

“People just relaxed a little, including me. I wasn’t so stressed.”
