Robert Saleh speaks out after abrupt Jets firing

Robert Saleh wrote a classy goodbye to the Jets.

Saleh, who was reportedly “blindsided” by the team’s decision to fire him Tuesday after a 2-3 start, released a statement Wednesday thanking the organization.

“To the Jets Organization, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many incredible people,” Saleh said. “I will always be appreciative of the love and support from everyone at 1 Jets Drive.

“To all of the players, I truly love and appreciate every single one of you. The character of the men in the locker room made coaching you guys the ultimate privilege. Through all the ups and downs, each and every one of you showed up everyday and attacked every moment.”

Jets owner Woody Johnson shockingly made the decision to axe Saleh after a disappointing start to the season.

Johnson alerted the 45-year-old of the decision after he arrived to the Jets facility ready to prepare for the team’s game against the Bills on Monday night, which will decide first place in the AFC East.

The Jets were coming off back-to-back losses to the Broncos at home and the Vikings in London, but the owner had never fired a coach midseason.

“To my fellow coaches and staff, it has been an honor to work with all of you,” Saleh said. “Every one of you were ‘all in’ and made sacrifices for one another that will never be forgotten. I wish you all the very best of luck for the remainder of the season.

The Post’s Brian Costello reported Tuesday that the breaking point for Johnson came when the Jets dropped a 10-9 game at home to an average Broncos team.

An enraged Johnson demanded changes, while Saleh preached patience.

Johnson’s patience ran out and Saleh was the one who paid the price after going 20-36 in three-plus seasons.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was named the interim head coach.

Saleh finished the statement with one of his signature sayings.

“With Love and Regard, All Gas No Brake!!!” he wrote.
