Adam Amin overstated Francisco Lindor’s grand slam: ‘Biggest swing of the season’

· New York Post

Adam Amin might have gotten caught up in the moment when he declared the sixth-inning grand slam by Francisco Lindor the “biggest swing of the season” for the Mets.

Lindor’s longball lifted the Mets to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth and Amin, on the play-by-play call for FS1, seemed to jump the gun with his description.

“Lindor toward right-center field, this one is back!” Amin exclaimed. “This one is gone! Grand slam! Lindor puts the Mets on top! The biggest swing of the season for New York!”

While Lindor’s home run did lift the Mets to a win and entry into the NLCS, Amin, the former ESPN play-by-player, seemingly forgot the dramatic Pete Alonso three-run dinger in the ninth inning Game 3 that saved the Mets’ season and put them into NLDS, just six days ago.

Arguably, it wasn’t even the biggest Lindor homer of the year — his playoff-clinching two-run shot in the ninth inning of an 8-7 win over the Braves on the final day of regular season is at least in the conversation.

Fans were quick to point out that Amin might have overstated his call.

“I like @adamamin But that definitely was not ‘the biggest swing of the season for New York,'” one person wrote on X

“Amin’s great, but he apparently didn’t watch Game 3 vs Milwaukee,” another person chimed in

“Retaking the lead vs the Braves after was a much bigger home run,” a third person said

While the local television broadcast teams do not call games in the playoffs, Mets radio broadcaster Howie Rose had a bit of a different call for the moment.

“Swing and drive toward the gap in right-center. It’s pretty deep. It’s back near the wall!” Rose said. “It’s gone! It’s gone! Francisco Lindor, he may have just outdone himself. He has hit a grand slam into the Phillies bullpen in right-center field! The Mets are leading by a score of 4-1.

“They were famished for the big hit all night and Francisco Lindor just provided a feast!”
