Ferencvaros vs Tottenham predicted – Brennan Johnson stars again but big opportunity missed

Tottenham face Ferencvaros on Thursday evening, so we simulated the Europa League clash to predict the outcome

Tottenham return to Europa League action when they make the trip to Hungary to take on Ferencvaros later tonight.

The last few weeks have been kind to Spurs, with Ange Postecoglou's side starting to find some consistency. A fantastic performance saw Spurs beat Manchester United 3-0 in their last outing at Old Trafford, with the victory a fourth in a row across all competitions for the Lilywhites.

Now, Postecoglou's side have the chance to make it five wins on the bounce in all competitions – something Spurs have failed to do since March 2021. Heung-Min Son and Destiny Udogie have not travelled with the squad, while Radu Dragusin is suspended after his red card last week.

So, can Spurs make it two wins from two in the Europa League? Let's take a look.

We simulated Ferencvaros vs Spurs to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Dibusz; Botka, Cisse, Szalai, Ramirez; Fani, Rommens; Borges, Zachariassen, Traore; Varga.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Gray, Davies; Sarr, Bissouma, Bergvall; Johnson, Solanke, Werner.

The hosts started on the front foot in Hungary, and within just two minutes, Ferencvaros had taken a shock lead. After winning possession deep Spurs' half, a one-two between Kristoffer Zachariassen and Barnabas Varga saw the latter break through on goal before slotting under Guglielmo Vicario.

The early goal acted as a wake-up call to Spurs, and after going behind, they started to dominate. Brennan Johnson missed two huge chances to score, but it was third time lucky for the Welshman as the Lilywhites drew level.

A strong challenge from Cristian Romero saw the defender turnover possession on the halfway line, allowing Spurs to hit the hosts on the counterattack. Yves Bissouma picked out the run of Johnson with a perfect through ball, and one-on-one, the winger fired into the roof of the net to make it 1-1.

Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner, and Lucas Bergvall were all guilty of missing big chances in the second half, with Postecoglou's side doing everything right but scoring. They were unable to find a winner, meaning they had to settle for a point on the road.

EA FC 25 pre dicted final score: Ferencvaros 1-1 Spurs
