With Premier League football on standby this weekend, Chelsea's players have ventured right across the globe to partake in international action with their respective countries.

Enzo Maresca will be hoping they all arrive back with a clean bill of health afterwards. He knows he will have make two changes with Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella certainly ruled out of next weekend's trip to Anfield - to meet Liverpool - so the last thing needed will be injuries to create further problems.

Although equally as important, the manager will hope his group can utilise their time with their national teams to return to Chelsea in a rich vein of form. To that end, Christopher Nkunku is already underlining he could come back with confidence having netted his first senior France goal this week.

Involved in Didier Deschamps' side's 4-1 mauling of Israel, his 28th-minute goal after beating three opponents with one turn helped restore the lead for France as they coasted to a Nations League victory.

After an injury-hit first season in west London, 26-year-old Nkunku is looking to stay healthy and get back to the blistering form of his RB Leipzig days. So far in the early weeks of the 2024/2025 campaign, that has meant biding his time, starting only once in the Premier League - but scoring seven goals in all competitions.

"A first goal in blue and a nice win to advance in this group," was the message that he posted to Instagram after this latest goal involvement. This quickly gained traction with teammates past, present and, perhaps, even of the future sharing their thoughts on the forward.

Showing his true colours, defender Trevoh Chalobah responded saying: "Encore," followed by the fire emoji. The Blues academy graduate is evidently still close with his teammate, and no doubt others, even after being forced through the exit door after complete a season-long loan transfer to Crystal Palace.

Also showering Nkunku, interestingly, was Dayot Upamecano, his current national teammate and Bayern Munich centre-back. He has most recently been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch by BILD, who have named Maresca and the Blues as one party 'keeping a close eye' on his availability with a view to next summer.

Commenting on his countryman's social media post, he simply used two fire emojis.
