Arsenal are one of the clubs who will be watching Pep Guardiola’s situation at Manchester City closely, with increasing uncertainty over the manager’s future at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spaniard has been with the club since the summer of 2016, guiding them to six Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, four League Cups and one Champions League victory. He is however out of contract in the summer, leading to speculation over where his future could lie.

The uncertainty over Guardiola’s future is something that Arsenal could look to take advantage of in the title race. Mikel Arteta’s side are on the same points as City in the Premier League table after the first seven games of the season.

Both are however one point below early leaders Liverpool. The Reds have picked up 18 points with Arsenal and City on 17 each.

The FA are on the lookout for a manager to take over a permanent England boss, following the departure of Gareth Southgate in the summer. U21 manager Lee Carsley in currently in the role on an interim basis but has suggested that he is not interested in the job on a permanent contract.

According to the Times, Guardiola has been ‘sounded out’ for the job. He is expected to make a decision on his future in ‘the coming weeks.’

It is added that the FA made ‘informal contact’ with the Spaniard at the start of the current season but have not yet received a response on if he would be interested in the role. City are keen for Guardiola to stay at the club.

Speaking about his future, Guardiola has not given much away. "I haven't finished my career at Manchester City yet, I still have to think about it,” he told Che Tempo Che Fa.

"It's not true that I'll be the England coach. I haven't decided anything yet, if I had decided my future at Manchester City I would say so, anything can happen in life."

The news on the FA’s interest in Guardiola comes after pundit and former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane urged them to make a move for the Man City boss. "Go after Pep," he said on ITV Sport. "His contract is up in the summer. Go for the best."
