Arsenal discover major Jhon Duran transfer update as Edu set to copy Chelsea strategy
by Keifer MacDonald · football.londonArsenal will look to bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester City when they return to Premier League action on Saturday.
The Gunners visit Newcastle United in the Premier League's early kick-off, with Mikel Arteta's side hoping to earn their first win in three league games after dropping points to Liverpool and Bournemouth in their most recent outings.
Arsenal's hopes of avenging last season's 1-0 defeat at St James' Park are set to be boosted by the return of defender Gabriel, who missed Wednesday's League Cup tie against Preston North End after sustaining an injury against Liverpool last weekend.
Here football.london looks at some of the other Arsenal news you might've missed.
Jhon Duran insists he's happy at Aston Villa

The Colombia international has been in fine form for the Midlanders this season, scoring eight goals in 14 appearances in all competitions.
However, that form has come at a cost for Villa as the club's talisman is now being linked with a move away from Villa Park.
But Duran signed a new deal with the club just last month and insists he can achieve "big things" under Unai Emery at Villa.
Asked about his future, he said: "Yes, I think there were rumours. As a young man, the head goes to other places.
"But there was always total support from Unai, from [president of football operations] Monchi, and above all from Damian [Vidagany, director of football operations].
"The three of them are important pillars in this club. They have achieved many things in a short time, and they have helped me a lot. They were very valuable to me because they kept me grounded, they told me things as they have to be said.
"I think that helps, in a way, the mind, and they… I don’t know, the start of the season was about my mind. Now it’s different.
"With experience, we’re going to do big things, and we’re working for that. Thanks to them, we’re here, and I’m happy here."
FL says: It is no surprise that Arsenal have been linked with a move for Duran, as their need for a top-quality forward has been there for all to see in recent seasons when they have finished runners-up in the Premier League.
However, it looks like Duran isn't going to be the man for Arteta's side. Not in the short-term, at least.
Arsenal scouting a Brazilian ace from Palmeiras
The Gunners are reportedly continuing to scout Palmeiras wonderkid Luighi.
According to the Brazilian publication Nosso Palmeiras, Arsenal are one of several European sides interested in the Brazilian star.
It is claimed the North Londoners have been scouting the forward in recent times.
FL says: Judging by the recent success clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City have had when dipping into the South American market, it's clear there are plenty of gems to be had.
And if Arteta and the Gunners are planning to coup another one, Luighi could be a perfect addition.
