Manchester United familiar transfer problem could haunt Jadon Sancho at Chelsea
by Jack Flintham · football.londonFormer Chelsea defender William Gallas is hopeful that Jadon Sancho can address his mindset issues at Stamford Bridge after a mixed start to life at his new club.
Sancho arrived with the Blues during the summer transfer window after a tumultuous career at Manchester United. The winger fell out with previous manager Erik ten Hag in September 2023 after failing to impress him during training sessions.
He was exiled from the first-team squad before being loaned to Borussia Dortmund in January. Upon returning to Manchester, Sancho and Ten Hag appeared to agree on a truce, but he was loaned to Chelsea on deadline day with the expectation being that he will join the club permanently next year.
After starting with assists against AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion, Sancho fell off the boil against Nottingham Forest and Liverpool before being overlooked to come off the bench against Newcastle United. Since then, the forward has been nursing an injury.
Speaking to football.london as an ambassador for Genting Casino, Gallas insists he hopes Sancho will be a success at Chelsea, but he will need to ensure he is in the right frame of mind to get there. "I hope Jadon Sancho can turn it around at Chelsea; when you saw him at Borussia Dortmund, he was magnificent," the Frenchman explained.
"But, when he joined Man United, it didn't work out and now he's joined Chelsea; it hasn't worked out so far. Everyone knows Sancho has the quality to be at a top club in the Premier League, but you need the mindset to stay in the starting XIs at the highest level.

"This mindset issue is not a problem just for footballers but for all sports people in the world."
