Newcastle United star Alexander Isak is set for a comeback against Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend and is likely to feature against Chelsea next weekend (October 27).

Callum Wilson's situation meanwhile, is still uncertain. Kieran Trippier, on the other hand, will miss the upcoming match at St James' Park due to a hamstring injury he picked up in the goalless draw with Everton. Speaking during his press conference, Eddie Howe confirmed that Isak's toe issue has "healed" and he's looking likely to feature at Stamford Bridge.

"Alex has trained and trained well," he said. "He started this week and he has improved so at this moment in time he is in contention." Regarding Wilson, Howe noted: "Callum has trained but with Callum we will continue to assess him day by day. When we get him back we want to keep him back for as long as possible so it's about making the right call."

With Trippier sidelined, Tino Livramento is poised to step up, having not been called upon during the international break. Howe elaborated on Trippier's condition: "Kieran has picked up a hamstring problem. It's probably nothing too serious, but it will keep him out for a few weeks."

Howe is keen to get a full update on his squad's condition including those returning from international duty with Newcastle, though Miguel Almiron's arrival from Paraguay has been the most recent. "The only player we haven't seen as of yet is Miguel Almiron," Howe added.

"He was flying yesterday so we anticipate we'll see him this morning. Everyone else is good and they've come back in good fettle." Meanwhile, Academy graduate Lewis Miley has returned to training after over 200 days sidelined due to a foot injury sustained during the off season.

Howe expressed optimism about Miley's return: "He has been back training during the break. He has looked really good, looks like he has not been away. It has been great to see. We will re-introduce him at the right time, he will have some competition, he is coming back into a great environment."

As the Magpies set to face Brighton, they are resolute in maintaining an impressive 12-game unbeaten streak at home, their last defeat being a narrow one to Man City in January, marked by Oscar Bobb's late decider.
