Arsenal handed huge Leroy Sane transfer update as fresh discussions held

by · football.london

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has reaffirmed Bayern Munich's commitment to renewing the contracts of stars such as Leroy Sane, after Arsenal were recently linked with a summer move.

The Gunners have added a plethora of title-winning experience to their squad in recent years, all in the effort to topple Manchester City's dominance and win the Premier League. Former City winger Sane, now with Bayern, was the latest name to be linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

As his latest employers in Germany attempt to renegotiate terms for the 28-year-old's deal, which expires at the season's end, Arsenal have been given a strong chance of luring him away. This is because it is said he has always held a desire of living and playing in London.

It remains to be seen what targets Mikel Arteta has in mind for the 2025 January and summer transfer windows, and indeed how the club will act in the market now their own sporting director Edu has left.

But the latest word from Bayern regarding Sane is that they are locked into discussions to renew his and several other team-mates contracts.

"Of course, many scenarios are being discussed. What is important at the moment is that some important players have contracts that are not valid for much longer. That is what we are focusing on. We are having discussions about that," Freund told SportBILD.

Proving just how committed they are to renewing contracts, the sporting director even waived any suggestion that he was working on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen and Germany talent Florian Wirtz.

"We are currently concentrating on the squad we have at our disposal. There is a lot to do," he added.

If Sane were to flat-out tell Bayern that he will be leaving the club upon the expiry of his deal next summer, that may prompt a transfer frenzy as they look to cash in during the January window. Otherwise the Gunners would be free to negotiate with the player from the turn of the year to secure a pre-agreement for his arrival.
