Turkish media issue 'helpless' Tottenham verdict as Ange Postecoglou knows Mourinho prediction
by Amie Wilson · football.londonIt was an evening to forget for Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League as their 100 percent win record in the competition this season came crashing down. Spurs went into the game against Galatasaray having won all three of their opening matches.
However, Younus Akgun gave Galatasaray an early lead in just the sixth minute. Spurs did pull level through Will Lankshear, but a Victor Osimhen double put the Turkish side two goals ahead.
The challenge of a second half comeback was made even more difficult when Lankshear was shown a red card on the hour mark. Tottenham did however manage to pull one goal back through Dominic Solanke nine minutes later, but the challenge proved too much for Ange Postecoglou’s men, who fell to a 3-2 defeat.
Spurs will now look to dust themselves down ahead of a return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on winless Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (2pm kick-off). While we wait for that match, here’s a look at how the game against Galatasaray was reported over in Turkey, with the reports sending a clear message over who was the dominant team in the match.

“Tottenham made a great start to the Europa League this season. The English giants, who are considered one of the tournament favourites, made it three out of three by beating Karabağ, Ferencvaros and Alkmaar. The London team arrived in Istanbul without important players due to injuries. Manager Ante Postecoglou said he left many of his main players on the bench against them. However, after the first half that ended with a 3-1 defeat, the experienced manager put his students, such as Bentancur, Kulusevski, Solanke and Sarr, who are normally important names in the starting 11, on the field.”

“We watched one of Okan Buruk's masterpieces. Those who follow the author of these lines will remember the sign at Tottenham Stadium: "To dare is to do." In other words, 'if you dare, you do it.' Galatasaray dared and did it. There was a plan on the field that left Tottenham helpless.”

After Yunus' magnificent goal, Galatasaray, who played terrific football both in attack and defence, carried their pressure, which made you wonder how long it could last, to the 45th minute.
“The goal Tottenham found in the only opportunity, 11 attacks for Buruk's team, Galatasaray's best game since last season's Bayern Munich match and even independent of the scoreboard, perhaps one of the best performances in Galatasaray's history. Between 46-65 Galatasaray could have inflicted one of the biggest defeats on Tottenham in their history. They couldn't get enough of missing.”

G.Saray destroyed Tottenham, who UEFA showed as the top candidate for the championship and Mourinho said would play in the final. If Osimhen and Icardi, who scored the two goals, had scored when they were face to face with the goalkeeper, G.Saray would have had the biggest European victory in its history. G.Saray players were the ones who dominated the ball for 65 minutes, narrowed the field for Tottenham and made effective attacks from the wings.
After Tottenham went down to 10 men, Galatasaray's game broke down, panic and panic started. Davinson Sanchez, Torreira, Sara, Kaan Ayhan's great games kept Galatasaray on their feet and brought them the 3 points."
