How Chelsea could line up vs Liverpool after double suspension blow

Latest Chelsea news and gossip as the Blues will face Liverpool in the Premier League in their first match after the October international break

Enzo Maresca will be forced to make at least two changes when Chelsea return after the international break. The Blues had to settle for a point in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea were handed six yellow cards during the stalemate at Stamford Bridge, meaning that they are set to receive a fine from the FA for the second time this season.

Two players who were cautioned by referee Chris Kavanagh were Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella, which was each of the duo's fifth yellow card in the Premier League this season.

Both defenders will now serve a one-match ban, which will cause them to miss the clash against Liverpool on October 20 in the top flight.

Fofana and Cucurella have been regular starters for Chelsea this season, but now Maresca will be forced to make at least two changes for the trip to Anfield later this month.

Tosin Adarabioyo is a likely candidate to replace Fofana at centre-back, with the summer signing already making six appearances in all competitions this season for Chelsea, with three in the Premier League.

At left-back, fellow summer signing Renato Veiga has stepped in to make four Premier League appearances and was also a starter for the Europa Conference League win over Gent last week.

Aside from the two changes in defence, Maresca could be tempted to name the same midfield and forward line that started against Forest.

Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson are some of the first names on the team sheet. Jadon Sancho has enjoyed an impressive start to the season on the left wing, but Pedro Neto will make a case to start against Liverpool.

Christopher Nkunku will also be a contender to start, while Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk will be hoping to be given valuable minutes against Liverpool.

Possible Chelsea line-up vs Liverpool: Sanchez; Gusto, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Veiga; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson
