Marcus Rashford makes England feelings clear after being frozen out of Three Lions setup

Marcus Rashford has shared his love for the England team despite his current Three Lions exile.

The Manchester United striker has been a regular for his national team throughout his career. The 26-year-old already has 60 caps to his name, while he has also scored 17 times.

But Rashford has fallen out of contention recently. He has not featured for England since a substitute outing in a 1-0 defeat to Brazil at Wembley back in March.

The United striker was also left out of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024. But that does not appear to have affected his relationship with the Three Lions.

Highlights of England’s 3-1 win against Italy this time last year, a game in which Rashford scored, was shared on England’s social media profile The post read: “The #ThreeLions secured #EURO2024 qualification in style #OnThisDay last year.”

Rashford reacted by sharing a red heart emoji. Gianluca Scamacca had given Italy the lead that day, while Harry Kane equalised from the penalty spot.

Rashford put the Three Lions ahead with a clinical low finish, with Kane doubling his evening’s work with his second to put the result beyond doubt and sealing England’s spot at the Euros in Germany.

While the Three Lions booked a spot at the tournament, the same cannot be said of Rashford, who was left out of Southgate’s final squad. Explaining that decision, the former England boss said: “These are of course difficult calls.

“We're talking about players who are very good and who have been an important part of what we've done over a number of years. With Marcus I just feel that players in that area of the pitch have had better seasons, it's as simple as that.”

Regardless, Rashford still wished the side luck heading into the tournament. He wrote on Instagram : "Wishing Gareth and the boys all the best for the up and coming tournament."

England enjoyed an excellent summer in Germany after reaching a second-consecutive Euros final. But they were eventually defeated by Spain - Mikel Oyarazbal scoring the decisive goal.

Southgate quit his job in the aftermath, with The FA only just concluding their search for his successor over the past week. Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has penned an 18-month deal and will lead the Three Lions into the 2026 World Cup should they successfully qualify. He will start the job in the New Year and Rashford will certainly hope to do enough to earn a spot in the German's first squad.
