Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate has sent fans into hysteria after a baffling outfit choice after linking up with France.

The defender was named in Didier Deschamps’ latest selection for the upcoming international break. But not that many will have noticed given his outfit he wore when arriving..

The Liverpool centre-back arrived at Les Bleus Clairefontaine training base wearing a black and grey suit. But he also appeared to be donning a bright yellow hoodie underneath - the hood of which was completely zipped up, leaving his face hidden.

Konate then undid his unconventional headgear before saying to cameras: “You don’t know who I am?” Liverpool fans have been questioning the Frenchman’s choice of attire on social media.

One fan said: “He was one of my favourite players. Why Konaté? Why?” While another added: “Never seen someone more crazy.”

A further supporter said: “What is he doing,” while a final Liverpool fan said: “Some need to tell Ibrahima Konaté that’s not a drip.”

Fans were not the only ones to question the choice. Liverpool teammate Curtis Jones replied to Konate’s post on Instagram with the simple comment “wtf”.

Despite the criticism he has faced for his fashion choice, Konate will certainly be aiming to enjoy a positive international break. The former RB Leipzig defender has 17 France caps to his name so far in his career.

He has also enjoyed a very impressive first season under new boss Arne Slot. Konate has started every game but one under the Dutchman - that being the 2-0 win against Ipswich on the opening day of the campaign.

The defender also scored in Liverpool’s comeback victory against AC Milan in the Champions League. Defensive partner Virgil van Dijk has been full of praise for his performances.

Speaking earlier this month, he said: "I think we need everyone to be at their best. He is a fantastic player who still can be better. As you saw, he is important with the goal, he is defensively solid, a bit unlucky with the goal we conceded, but obviously the qualities he has are outstanding in my opinion.

“He is learning, growing, getting better and looking after himself much better in order to be ready every three days as that's what asked. And also we have a young player behind him in Jarrell, who is also doing well. We have to keep pushing each other and he is doing a good job."
