Amad has addressed probing questions about life off the pitch at Manchester United, including who the fastest player at the club is and which teammates he is closest to

Rasmus Hojlund left Manchester United teammate Amad surprised with his searing pace.

Hojlund joined the Ivorian at Old Trafford following his £72million move from Atalanta in 2023. The Dane had a mixed first season at United, scoring 16 goals across all competitions.

Following an injury-disrupted start to this season, Hojlund recently returned to action and will be hoping to open his account when United visit Tottenham on Sunday. Amad will no doubt be among those relieved to see the striker return to fitness, having revealed he couldn't believe his eyes when he first saw him in training.

Asked during a fans’ Q&A on Sky Sports who is the fastest player at the club, Amad said: “For me, it is Rashy [Marcus Rashford]. Also, Rasmus, I didn’t expect that, he’s so fast.”

Pressed on how a United footrace would finish, he added: “Rashy, Rasmus, Garna, Antony and me [in fifth]. I’m happy with that."

Amad also revealed the players he is closest to in the United dressing room – Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. He boldly said England midfielder Mainoo could go on and become one of the greatest players in the club’s history and also spoke highly of Garnacho, admitting that he likes his drive to reach the top.

“Kobbie, at his age, is so good,” said Amad. “He’s an amazing player, [a] good person. I think he’s going to be one of the best players in Manchester United’s history. Off the pitch, he’s a nice guy. We go out for dinner together, along with Garna. We are really close.

On Garnacho, who he is competing with for a regular spot in the team, Amad added: “Garna is an amazing player, I like him because he wants to push and reach his potential. I’m very happy for them and I hope, together, we can do something special for the club.”

Meanwhile, following successive draws against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Twente in the Europa League, Erik ten Hag wants to see more cutting edge from his side at Old Trafford.

Hojlund is pushing for his first start of the season having made two substitute appearances since returning from a hamstring issue sustained on United’s pre-season tour. Mason Mount came on for his first match in a month against Twente after overcoming a muscle complaint, but Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw remain out.
