Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois weigh in for their fight

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk make different Anthony Joshua fight predictions

Anthony Joshua is the heavy favourite to knock out Daniel Dubois and become world champion for the third time at Wembley tonight

by · The Mirror

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have disagreed about the result of tonight's clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

Dubois will defend his heavyweight world title against two-time champion Joshua in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley this evening. But he will start as the underdog against his more experienced and seasoned opponent with Joshua attempting to join an exclusive club by becoming a three-time ruler of the division.

Fury and Usyk are considered the best two heavyweights in the world and will meet for a second time four days before Christmas after Usyk outpointed his rival in May to become the undisputed champion. Fury has yet to fight either Joshua or Dubois but Usyk can speak on authority having twice beaten Joshua before stopping Dubois last year.

"My favourite is Anthony Joshua but I am very bad at predictions. But I will predict Anthony Joshua," Usyk told Boxing King Media. He added to Boxing News: "There is no way to compare [Dubois and Joshua], because they are completely different fighters. Different skills; different styles. Totally different boxers. To be fair, I don’t think [Dubois can reach Joshua’s level]. I am sorry for saying this, but this is the truth and I’m telling it."

Fury, naturally, is backing his stablemate to get the job done. His promoter Frank Warren told Sky Sports: "I spoke with him this morning … He said the same thing, he’s in the same frame of mind as I am about Daniel’s chances. He thinks Daniel’s going to do the business, so that’ll be the unification next year."

Fury and Usyk will both be ringside at the national stadium tonight - but only after the Ukrainian was detained as he attempted to leave Poland for London. Usyk was wrongly held at the airport before being released later following what he and his team described as a "misunderstanding".

He and Fury could come together at a pre-fight event on Wembley Way at which they will be joined by a host of stars including Tyson's brother Tommy who recently split from fiancee Molly-Mae Hague. Fury lost for the first time as a professional when he was on the wrong end of a split decision against Usyk. The Brit has kept a low profile since the defeat and has recently been training in Thailand.

Fury claimed his fight with Usyk was "easier" than expected despite almost being knocked out in the ninth round. Should he go on to avenge his defeat, it is expected he will face the winner of tonight's fight in the first half of 2025, likely in Saudi Arabia but potentially back at Wembley.
