Travis Kelce wore the head of the mascot for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, The Masked Raider, on the latest episode of 'New Heights', following a lost bet with Patrick Mahomes earlier this week.

Mahomes, a former Texas Tech quarterback sensation before being snapped up in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs, wagered with Kelce that his old team would triumph over the tight end's alma mater, Cincinnati. The two colleges clashed this past weekend, and it was Texas Tech who emerged victorious with a nail-biting 44-41 win after Cincinnati failed to secure the game with a 50-yard field goal attempt.

As a result of the outcome, Mahomes came out on top in their friendly gamble, ensuring Kelce will be seen wearing the Red Raiders jersey in Wednesday's podcast episode. During CBS' coverage of the Chiefs' recent victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, commentator Jim Nantz spilled the beans about their personal bet.

He commented: "Kelce and Mahomes, they have such a friendship and chemistry. They came in together to meet with us last night and they were all excited about going back Saturday evening and watching their two alma maters square off, Texas Tech and Cincinnati... Of course, they had a little side wager."

On the gridiron, Mahomes and Kelce may just be the best quarterback-tight end pairing ever, boasting three Super Bowl titles already and currently tipped to snag a fourth this year, which could mark an unprecedented 'three peat'.

Off the field, the duo have been enjoying the off-season together, hitting up a Morgan Wallen concert in Kansas City and even stepping out with the country music sensation. They've also jetted off to New York alongside their significant others, Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes, to catch some action at the US Open.

Kelce faced scrutiny early in the season, managing a mere eight receptions for 69 yards over three games numbers he'd typically rack up in a single outing. Questions were raised about Mahomes' targeting of the tight end. However, Kelce silenced critics with an impressive showing against the Chargers, racking up over 90 yards and playing a pivotal role in advancing the team.

With their camaraderie as strong as ever, both on and off the pitch, and friendly bets being placed, Mahomes was confident in Kelce's ability to bounce back, telling the press: "I mean, I know he always has it. Whenever we need him he comes out and makes plays. I was happy for him."
