Man Utd chief explains why Ruben Amorim was appointed to create 'perfect partnership'

by David McDonnell · The MirrorManchester United chief executive Omar Berrada says he is “excited” by the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the club's new boss.
Amorim, 39, left Sporting Lisbon to succeed Erik ten Hag, who was sacked last month when United were down in 14th place in the Premier League.
New United head coach Amorim's first game in charge is away to Ipswich on Sunday November 24, with Berrada claiming the club's hierarchy are convinced his arrival is the perfect fit for the new structure in place at the club.
Speaking at a web summit in Portugal, Berrada said: “I'm very excited about the arrival of Ruben Amorim. It's good to be back in Lisbon, I was here two weeks ago.
"We really believe that he will integrate into the rest of the structure so that we can be successful on the pitch. It's a perfect partnership between sport and technology."
Amorim was given a guided tour of United's Carrington training complex on Monday, where he was met by Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox and Berrada.
United's new boss is not allowed to officially take training until his work visa is granted, which is expected to happen towards the end of this week.
