It emerged on Monday that Gary Lineker would be leaving his role as Match of the Day's lead presenter at the end of this season, with reports adding that he's expected to remain with the BBC until the end of the 2026 World Cup
by Nathan Ridley · The MirrorGary Lineker has been spotted in public for the first time it emerged that he'd be leaving Match of the Day.
Former England striker Lineker, 62, was seen walking his dog outside of his home in Barnes, south London, on Tuesday morning. It was widely reported on Monday that the TV icon will leave his role as MOTD's lead presenter at the end of the current Premier League season.
The agreement will see Lineker remain with the BBC until the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, hosting their coverage of matches in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Lineker would also continue to be the broadcaster's lead presenter for FA Cup matches in the 2025-26 season.
The BBC themselves have reported the news although there's been no official announcement from their press office or his representatives.
