WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball returns to the ring to make the first defence of his world title against Ronny Rios.

Ball, 27, will be returning to Liverpool to fight in front of his home fans for the first time in four years against the experienced American. The Brit has had his last two fights in Saudi Arabia, the first a split draw with Rey Vargas before getting his hand on a world title after defeating the previously undefeated Raymond Ford in June.

As for Rios, the 34-year-old American comes into the featherweight contest far more experienced than the Merseyside native. With 38 professional fights under his belt, Rios got back to winning ways in his last fight after suffering a TKO defeat to Murodjon Akhmadaliev in 2022. After a two year absence, the US boxer scored a fifth round knockout victory over Nicolas Polanco to set up a clash with Ball.

What time will Nick Ball vs Ronny Rios start tonight?

The fight will take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England and is set to start at 7pm. Ronny Rios is set to make the walk to the ring first at around 10pm with Nick Ball set to follow immediately after. The two stars will then touch gloves just after 10.30pm before the first bell sounds. The fight should not start later than this but could be brought forward if the undercard fights are completed earlier than expected.

Nick Ball: “I’m glad to be back, fighting in my home city, where it all started, fighting as a world champion. That’s how it should be and that’s what it is. We get behind our own. You see someone putting the hard work in, it pays off. He thinks he’s gonna go in there and push me back, that’s not gonna happen. Once you get in the ring, it’s a different story. So good luck with that… It will be all-action from me.”

Ronny Rios: “This is my third attempt, we’ve got a good fighter in front of us. These are the fights that I get up for. I have always wanted to test myself, and in my eyes Nick Ball is one of the best fighters at 126. I’m excited to test myself. We’ve had a great camp. Two more days and it’s here.”
