When is the FA Cup first round draw? Ball numbers, TV channel and start time

League One and Two clubs are set to join non-league clubs in the FA Cup first round proper draw after the fourth qualifying round took place over the weekend

by · The Mirror

The FA Cup first round is a major milestone in every football season as teams wait to discover their fate.

The historic cup competition may crescendo with the Wembley final in May, but much of the FA Cup's iconic magic stems from the earlier rounds. Adding 48 EFL clubs into the pot allows 32 non-league clubs to enjoy a famous night and potentially a giant-killing result that fans will forever remember.

It may be the FA Cup first round, but almost half of the 80 teams involved earned their place in the draw with victories in the fourth qualifying round this weekend. Seventh-tier Harborough Town reached the draw for the first time in their history with a win over Bury. The club are joined by fellow Southern League side Kettering Town, who sealed a dramatic victory over Farsley Celtic.

The FA Cup is an opportunity for League One and Two clubs to go on a cup run of their own, provided they don’t fall at the first hurdle. Mirror Sport takes a look at everything you need to know about the upcoming draw.

When is the FA Cup first round draw?

The draw will take place on Monday, October 14, at Bradford City's Valley Parade, now known as the University of Bradford Stadium. It will be broadcast live on BBC 2 from 7 p.m. and will last 30 minutes.

The first-round ties are scheduled to take place between Friday, November 1, and Monday, November 4. Meanwhile, the six replays from Saturday’s qualifying round will take place on Tuesday, October 15.
