Prince George is showing great potential in one sport in particular - and has even been taught by a world number one.

It's no secret that George enjoys his tennis; he made his Wimbledon debut alongside his parents in 2022 and quickly got caught up in the on-court action. But his interest started long before that, as proud mum Kate revealed. Back in 2017 during a visit to the Lawn Tennis Association, Kate revealed that little George had started to learn how to play tennis. At the time she asked LTA coach Sam Richardson for advice and he later disclosed: "She says with George just being four he wants to whack a ball, so she was asking what sort of stuff she should be doing. They will struggle at that age to hit a ball. She said he's interested in it, but more in whacking the ball."

Sam also revealed that Kate had also been getting tips from Andy Murray's mother, Judy. He said: "She said she spoke to Judy Murray and she suggested taking away the racket and do more of the basic stuff, which is absolutely right. But four-year-old boys want to swing the racket around!" Fast forward a few years, and George could be a future Wimbledon champion if tennis legend Roger Federer has his way.

The sport star - who is friends with the Middleton family - previously revealed he had given the second-in-line to the throne a tennis lesson at Carole and Michael's Bucklebury home. Federer reminisced about the experience, saying: "At that stage it's all about just touching the ball, it's already good. Same with my boys." When asked how he felt knowing the young prince admired him, the tennis star acknowledged his 'advantage'. He said: "I think I have a little advantage that I actually spent some time, you know, with him. I'm the only player he's ever met. Then you have a little head start in who is your favourite player!"

The Princess of Wales , who is a keen tennis fan and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, has struck up a friendship with the tennis legend over the years. Last year, the much-adored royal joined forces with Roger Federer for a special sneak peek into the lives of the "amazingly professional" Wimbledon ball boys and girls, culminating in a video by Kensington Palace featuring Kate and Roger on the court.

At one point, Kate had to be corrected by Roger and a ball girl as she made an innocent mistake. In the video, the Princess could be seen throwing the ball over to Federer, who was standing on the opposite end of the court. As Federer's teammate served the ball towards Kate, she caught it with one hand. While the ball girl, Mollie, told Kate that this was a "good catch", Federer stepped in to question the move. "Are you allowed to do that?" he asked.

Kate also wondered if she was able to catch the ball, responding: "Oh yeah, are you allowed to do that? That’s a good point." Federer explained the game rules to Kate, pointing out that in Australia, players would catch the tennis ball, but in Wimbledon they wouldn't. Mollie agreed, adding: "Yeah, you're not meant to catch it. You're meant to let it bounce and then catch it, but good catch!"
