Man Utd's deciding votes on Erik ten Hag future contradicts Sir Jim Ratcliffe claim

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is under huge pressure, with club chiefs holding a seven-hour crisis meeting on Tuesday where his future was a major topic of discussion

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is part of a three-person committee that will make the final decision on Erik ten Hag's future as Manchester United manager, it has been claimed.

United chiefs held a seven-hour crisis meeting on Tuesday, with Ten Hag's future dominating the agenda after the club made their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign. Ratcliffe and co-owner Joel Glazer were in attendance, along with CEO Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox and director Sir Dave Brailsford.

Chief operating officer Collette Roche and chief financial officer Roger Bell were also at the meeting. When quizzed on Ten Hag's future last Friday, Ratcliffe insisted the decision was "not my call".

Asked if he has faith in Ten Hag, he told BBC Sport: "I don't want to answer that question. I like Erik. I think he's a very good coach but at the end of the day it's not my call.

"It's the management team that's running Manchester United that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects. But that team that's running Manchester United has only been together since June or July.

"They weren't there in January, February, March or April – Omar, Dan Ashworth - they only arrived in July. They've only been there… you can count it in weeks almost - they've not been there a long time, so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions.

"Our objective is very clear - we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it's not there yet, obviously - that's very clear."

However, according to the Daily Mail, Ratcliffe is part of a three-person committee along with co-chairman Joel Glazer and INEOS' director of sport Brailsford - and the trio will reportedly make the final decision on Ten Hag's future.

That decision will be based on recommendations from Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox, given they are the ones working closely with Ten Hag on a daily basis. Berrada and Ashworth did give the Dutchman their public backing last month, but that was right before United were beaten 3-0 by rivals Liverpool.

Since the briefing, United have failed to win five of their seven games across all competitions, with their only victories coming over winless Southampton in the Premier League and League One side Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.
