Everton's prospects are looking significantly brighter with an imminent takeover on the horizon, but securing their Premier League status this season remains critical. The Toffees are in dire need of a positive result as they prepare to host Crystal Palace.

The Friedkin Group finalised a deal to purchase the club on Monday morning, leading to an immediate shift in Everton's relegation odds. However, any new investment in the squad will have to wait until the January transfer window.

For manager Sean Dyche, the immediate focus is ensuring Everton are not languishing in the relegation zone by then. Dyche managed to secure a point away at Leicester last weekend, but his team has repeatedly squandered leads in recent matches. He will be urging his players to adopt a more clinical approach against Palace.

Crystal Palace, managed by Oliver Glasner, finished last season on a high but have struggled in the new campaign. They currently sit just two points ahead of Everton, having garnered only three points from their first five games. Despite losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich over the summer, Palace still boast a strong squad. Glasner will be equally keen to notch up their first victory of the season at Goodison Park.
