'All the qualities' - Bruno Fernandes has already told Man United what to expect from Ruben Amorim
by Alex James · Manchester Evening NewsNew Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has the credentials to succeed at the top of the game, believes Old Trafford captain Bruno Fernandes.
Amorim is the new Old Trafford chief after his appointment was confirmed on Friday. Erik ten Hag was sacked on Monday and United have moved quickly to finalise a replacement.
The 39-year-old won't officially take charge until November 11 with Ruud van Nistelrooy remaining in caretaker charge until then. Amorim will have the international break to work with the players ahead of his first game in charge at Ipswich on November 24.

And his countryman Fernandes has already spoke in glowing terms of the new United boss. "If he really takes the next step – I hope he stays at Sporting – but if he takes the next step, I think all the qualities are there to be able to succeed in English, French, or Spanish football," Fernandes told SportTV in March 2024.
"Obviously, we know that the Premier League is probably the most desired. The qualities [to succeed in England] are there and he has everything to take the next step, in my opinion."
United are 14th in the Premier League after a dismal start to the season while they are still seeking a first win in the Europa League group phase having drawn all three of their matches in that competition.
