Mazraoui, Maguire, Shaw - Manchester United injury news and return dates

Manchester United claimed a well-earned point in their draw with Aston Villa on Sunday.

United were held to a goalless draw at Villa Park in their final Premier League fixture before the October international break. Erik ten Hag's side are not back in action until later this month at home to Brentford, but before then, several players will be travelling across the globe to feature for their respective countries.

Ten Hag will now hope that the United players travelling to represent their national teams return injury-free for the start of another busy run of fixtures. The United boss is already dealing with a lengthy injury list going into the international break, though.

The Manchester Evening News takes a look at United's current injury list following the draw with Villa.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire was substituted at half-time of United's draw at Villa Park with an unspecified injury.

The centre-back was spotted leaving the stadium wearing a protective boot. Ten Hag explained after the match why Maguire needed to be substituted at the break.

"He didn't feel well after half-time so I had to take him off," Ten Hag told Sky Sports. "We know in this moment we have a lack of goals, in that perspective it's not a good start, we have to step up. That's an area we have to improve. But we have four clean sheets. That's good because we have to defend proper."

Potential return date: Unknown

Noussair Mazraoui

Noussair Mazraoui was also substituted during the interval of United's draw with Villa on Sunday afternoon. The right-back appeared to be in some discomfort in the closing stages and was replaced at half-time.

Like with Maguire, Ten Hag stated that further assessment would be needed on Mazraoui's potential injury.

"We have to assess this [Mazraoui and Maguire injuries]," Ten Hag told MUTV. "I can’t tell you now what the issue is.

"I know what the issue is but [I cannot say now] how good or bad it is. We have to assess this tomorrow [Monday] and then we will bring you news."

Potential return date: Unknown

Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro suffered a fractured metatarsal during United's pre-season tour of the United States.

The centre-back has yet to make his competitive debut for United since his summer arrival from Lille. Yoro was given a timeframe of three to four months for a return from the injury.

Potential return date: November

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw has yet to feature for United this season with a calf injury suffered during pre-season.

Shaw has been gradually recovering from the injury, and United will be hopeful of being able to call on the left-back after the international break.

Potential return date: Fenerbahce (A) - October 24

Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia is nearing the end of a long recovery from a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since May 2023.

The left-back has been stepping up his recovery in recent weeks and could return to training sometime after the international break.

Potential return date: November

Mason Mount

Mason Mount suffered a head injury in the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last month and has missed the last two matches with a knock.

It remains to be seen when Mount will make a return to the matchday squad, with the first match after the international break a possibility.

Potential return date: Brentford (H) - October 19
