Manchester United 'target' £67m Real Madrid star as Liverpool transfer battle begins

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United are being linked with a new midfielder and a new forward when the January transfer window opens.

United had a busy summer window with five new signings walking through the door at Old Trafford. Manuel Ugarte was the final signing of the summer, joining Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt in being added to Erik ten Hag's squad.

There are still three months to go until United are able to make further new signings to their squad. That is not stopping rumours from swirling, though, that United could be set for another busy transfer window in the New Year.

The Manchester Evening News takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip to generate headlines over the last 24 hours.

United are being linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. According to Spanish news outlet Todo Fichajes, the club will battle with Liverpool to sign the France international in 2025.

The report claims that Tchouameni could be allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu three years after he signed for Real from Monaco in 2022. It has been stated that United could make a move to sign the midfielder, who is thought to be valued by Madrid at €80million (£67million).

Arsenal are also reportedly in the running to sign Tchouameni. However, despite United being linked, the report states that Liverpool are the team "most likely" to make an offer to sign the midfielder.

Elsewhere, United are reportedly facing a battle to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Oumar Marmoush. According to Caught Offside, United are a "team to watch" as the future of the Egypt international continues to generate speculation.

Marmoush is also reportedly wanted by Arsenal, Liverpool, West Ham and Nottingham Forest. The forward signed for Frankfurt in 2023 on a free transfer and it has been valued at €30million (£25million) in the report.
