Less than three months after Andy Murray announced his official retirement from tennis, he’s confidently embracing his new chapter. The illustrious tennis figure has turned his hand to golf, entering several tournaments already as he explores his longstanding passion for the game with newfound time on his hands.

Indeed, Murray's legacy on the tennis court is renowned; he has 46 titles under his belt, encompassing two Wimbledon and one US Open championship, not to mention securing three Olympic medals.

However, beyond the accolades, the Scot cherishes his role as a family man. With professional tennis behind him, Murray is relishing more moments with his wife Kim and their four kids as they embark on an exciting journey together.

Since leaving the global stage at the Olympics in early August, Murray has been dedicated to perfecting his golf skills, aiming for a scratch handicap. Embracing this fresh pursuit, he has even redefined his online persona, amending his Twitter bio from "I play tennis" to the proactive statement "I played tennis. I now play golf."

Playing off a seven handicap at present, Murray proudly made his first appearance at the prestigious Pro-Am event of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last month and subsequently at the inaugural BTJA Mike Dickson Golf Day, set against the picturesque backdrop of Hanbury Manor Golf Club in Hertfordshire, reports Wales Online.

The special event was established by the British Tennis Journalists' Association in memory of the late Daily Mail journalist Mike Dickson, who passed away in January at the age of 59, and it was Andy Murray who was crowned as the day's winner. Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre, who teamed up with the tennis star for a round at Wentworth, shared his admiration for Murray's performance, remarking: "For someone that's not really played that much, I thought he was good. I was very impressed with his game. He'll be scratch in no time."

Delving into his experiences swapping the tennis court for the golf course, Murray discussed the different kinds of nerves involved: "It's a different sort of nerves, because you are comfortable in the sort of tennis environment. I'm not thinking I'm going to walk out on the tennis court and forget how to hit the ball."

Further, he expressed his concerns while playing golf, stating: "Whereas here, there's people standing five metres away from where I'm driving, and I'm like, I'm useless at this game. You just want to try and keep the ball in play and don't mess up too much."

Reflecting on the possibility of improving his golf skills, Murray said: "I'm obviously getting to practice a lot more than the average person," adding, "I obviously played a bit when I was younger, and if I can get the right sort of lessons and practise the right things, then yeah, I've got a chance of doing that."

Earlier this year, when questioned about how he envisions life post-retirement, Murray shared: "I don't know exactly what the rest of my life will look like, but I will still stay in touch with the sport. Initially, I want to be at home with my family. I want to spend a lot of time with my kids and my wife, so I won't be on the road much, I know that."

"I'll play a lot of golf," he shared. "I want to become a scratch golfer. I've always loved playing golf, but because of the issues with my back, I haven't played for five or six years. I would also love to be part of the next Olympics in some capacity, but I don't have any clear plans on what it is I'm going to do from a work perspective."

Murray has been married to Kim Sears - the daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears - since 2015, having met at a party during the US Open a decade earlier. They dated for around nine years before tying the knot in the tennis star's hometown of Dunblane.

However, their relationship had hit a bump in the road a few years earlier, as they shockingly split up in 2009 with Kim 'winning custody' of their dog Maggie.

But while they split for six months, they were soon back together with Murray making a big decision and admitting: "I work better in a relationship. At the end of the day, especially if I've lost a match, I don't like talking about tennis, so it's nice to have someone to talk to about other stuff."

Andy and Kim Murray are doting parents to their four children - Sophia, eight, Edie, six, Teddy, four, and Lola, three. Kim is often spotted cheering on her husband at his tennis matches and supporting him off the court as well.

Since 2013, they have been the proud owners of Cromlix House Hotel, a luxurious five-star establishment where they tied the knot. Besides being a supportive spouse, Kim is also an accomplished artist with a former website called Brushes and Paws, showcasing her animal and floral portraits.

Murray has frequently expressed his deep appreciation for Kim's support, particularly in an interview with the New York Times: "She doesn't like being in the newspapers, and people commenting on what she's wearing and how she looks, and those sorts of things. That's one of the things that I guess she's also sacrificed, a little bit, for our relationship, and I appreciate that a lot."

He also acknowledged the temptations that come with his lifestyle, saying, "You're in these huge cities meeting new people all the time and it would be easy to get your head turned," but praised Kim's unwavering presence: "But Kim's always been there for me. She really cares about me and helps with so many things. She always has. That's why we have such a great relationship."

However, Kim's fervent support once crossed a line during the 2015 Wimbledon semi-final when Andy Murray faced Tomas Berdych. Captured by the cameras, Kim was seen mouthing the words: "F****** have that you flash Czech f***".

Murray came to her defence after the match, remarking: "When there's a lot of tension surrounding something, which you [the media] created [by referring to the fact his former assistant coach Dani Vallverdu then coached Berdych], then it's completely normal."

He continued: "The whole first set everyone was tight. My physical trainer, physio, I'm sure for Dani it was uncomfortable. Even Tomas, who very rarely says anything on the court, there was tension there for him, as well. Yeah, in the heat of the moment you can say stuff that you regret. And, yeah, that's it."

However, they were able to see the funny side later on as Kim sported a T-shirt at the men's final with 'Parental Advisory: Explicit Content' emblazoned on it. Following his knighthood in the Queen's New Year Honours the next year, Murray quipped about his wife needing to watch her language now that she would be a Lady, joking: "She's going to have to [do] no more swearing during my matches any more, for any of you who saw that a few years ago."

In terms of net worth, as one of the most successful players ever, Murray has amassed over £50million in prize money alone throughout his distinguished career. This is supplemented by his considerable income from endorsement deals and sponsorships, partnering with high-profile companies like Jaguar, Castore, Under Armour, and Head.

Over time, he has also worked with other leading brands including Amazon Prime Video, Standard Life, and American Express.

Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Andy Murray's net worth is around £85 million, although some sources suggest it could be closer to £100 million. This wealth comes not only from his tennis winnings but also from lucrative endorsement deals.

In addition to the hotel he owns with his wife Kim Sears, Murray has invested in property, including a £5 million mansion in Surrey and a luxury flat in Miami.
