by Mark Wakefield · Manchester Evening NewsManchester United could be set for a busy January transfer window based on some of the latest gossip.
United have less than two months to wait before they are able to add new signings to their squad ahead of the second half of the season. Ruud van Nistelrooy remains in interim charge of United and is preparing the squad to face Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend.
The trip to Stamford Bridge is United's final match before the November international break, which will also be the last game of Van Nistelrooy's interim tenure. Ruben Amorim will take charge as United's new head coach next week, leaving Sporting Lisbon in the process.
United made five signings during the summer transfer window, and it remains to be seen if any more players will be added to the squad in January. Even though there are still two months to wait before the window opens, rumours are swirling about the possible business that may be conducted at Old Trafford.

Here, MEN Sport has taken a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.
United are being credited with an interest in signing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane. The 28-year-old moved to the Bundesliga giants in 2020, leaving Manchester City in the process.
According to Sport Bild, United have expressed a desire to try and sign Sane at the end of the season when his contract is set to expire. The report claims that United have already made an approach to try and sign Sane, who has also been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks.
It remains to be seen if Sane will put pen to paper on a new contract at Bayern over the weeks and months ahead. The report claims that the Germany international will not make a decision on his future until he holds talks with Bayern.
Elsewhere, United are also supposedly interested in signing Sane's teammate at Bayern Munich, Leon Goretzka. According to Sky Germany, United are "closely monitoring" Goretzka and could make a move to sign the midfielder in the January transfer window.
The report claims that United want to sign a new midfielder and a striker in the Near Year, with Goretzka identified as a potential target. However, United have been handed a blow with the update that Goretzka is not planning to leave the Allianz Arena in January.
