What PAOK supporters did in Manchester city centre ahead of Man United clash

by · Manchester Evening News

Supporters of Greek champions PAOK have been enjoying the occasion this afternoon in Manchester city centre, as they gear up to watch their team face Man United.

The hosts have been out of sorts in Europe this season, drawing their three previous Europa League matches, so have plenty of catching up to do. The task to get them back on track falls to Ruud van Nistelrooy just this once, before Ruben Amorim picks up his Man United project during the international break.

But even with a change in management, PAOK will see this as a great time to launch an upset upon the three-time Champions League winners.

Usually the argument is whether Manchester is blue or red, though today it is certainly black-and-white.

The travelling side have brought with them an expected 4,000-strong army of confident supporters to the North West, and they will be situated in that South East corner of Old Trafford waiting to see if the result falls in their favour. But keeping busy before kick-off, they seem to have found themselves a place to hole up until kick-off.

That place was The Old Wellington, outside the Arndale Centre in the city's centre. They have been at the traditional timber English pub enjoying themselves since last night it seems, and were back again today from the light hours until it again turned dark.

What's more, those posting their videos on social media tended to note that there was no trouble between those who have flown over for the match and locals going about their daily routines.

With kick-off at 8:00pm at Old Trafford, the PAOK supporters have started to make their way to the ground for the match. Leaving their drinks behind they were later spotted marching and chanting along Deansgate, out of the city centre and towards the A56, which will take them almost directly to the stadium.
