Rasmus Hojlund makes three-word Manchester United vow after injury return

by · Manchester Evening News

Rasmus Hojlund sent a message to Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho after making a return from injury.

Hojlund came off the bench for United in the draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday night. The start was Hojlund's first appearance of the campaign after suffering a hamstring injury during the pre-season tour of the United States.

United were forced to settle for a point in their trip to Selhurst Park as they prepare for their Europa League opener against FC Twente on Wednesday night. Erik ten Hag opted to give Hojlund 76 minutes before he was replaced by Amad Diallo against Palace at the weekend.

Garnacho posted a message on his Instagram story which congratulated Hojlund on making a return from injury. Garnacho wrote: "Welcome back my friend".

Hojlund responded to the message from Garnacho, offering his gratitude. The United No.9 went on to issue a threw-word vow for the campaign ahead for the Reds.

"Thanks brother [Garnacho]," wrote Hojlund. "Big season ahead!"

Despite failing to score his first goal of the season against Palace, Hojlund will be in line for another start when United face FC Twente in the Europa League in midweek. Ten Hag also has summer signing Joshua Zirkzee available to compete for the centre-forward spot in the starting line up.

Even though Hojlund has made his return from injury, United still have several other players on the sidelines. Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Victor Lindelof all missed the draw with Palace due to their respective injuries.

Malacia and Lindelof are moving closer to a return after taking part in training at Carrington on Friday. Yoro is expected to be sidelined until November with a fractured metatarsal, while Shaw is still out with a calf injury.
