'Unbelievable' - Man City's 16-year-old sensation hits stunning 22 minute hat-trick

Manchester City put on a five star display in dispatching Norwich City in Premier League 2 on Friday night - but it was a 16-year-old sensation who stole the show.

Reigan Heskey netted a stunning 22 minute hat-trick to take the game away from the visitors having only been introduced at the break. The teenage winger made his mark within two minutes of arriving on the pitch, finishing from close range to double City's lead after Emilio Lawrence's early opener.

He then netted a fine second before completing a quickfire treble when a driven effort was spilled into the net by Norwich keeper Finch. William Dickson rounded off the scoring in added time with City two points clear of Brighton at the top of the standings.

Heskey, son of former England striker Emile, earned the praise of City boss Ben Wilkinson, who feels the prospect has the potential to make an impact in the senior game even if he is cautious about building up the teenager's talent.

“He’s got an unbelievable chance to be a top player,” said Wilkinson, speaking to City's website. “He has a lot of attributes you’d look for in someone of his position.

“To come on in an EDS game as a 16-year-old and score a hat-trick isn’t something you see very often. Our job is to steer him in the right direction over the next couple of years and not let him get too high in these moments.

“I’m sure he’ll have some bumps as well. We’ll make sure he doesn’t get too low in that point and just try to keep him on track.”

Heskey, who is joined in the City academy by his brother Jaden, himself was delighted with his display. He told City's website: “I came on and made an impact which is what I try to do every time so it was a good performance.

“Every team wants to be top [of the table], you want to win every game week in, week out. The pressure of having them [other teams] behind us gives us motivation to play well every week.”
