How Old Trafford reacted to Manchester United wonderkid Erik ten Hag 'kicked out of dressing room'

Shola Shoretire received a warm welcome from Manchester United fans as he returned to Old Trafford when his new club, PAOK, played his former employers in the Europa League.

Shoretire, 20, was applauded onto the pitch by United fans eager to acknowledge their academy graduate when he was introduced as a substitute during the second half. He left the club in the summer at the end of his contract.

The winger first made his mark under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, becoming the club's youngest-ever player in European competition - a record he still holds. Despite a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers to boost his first-team chances, he struggled for minutes under Erik ten Hag.

When the Dutch manager arrived in 2022, he was among several players reportedly moved to the under-23 changing area following an influx of new signings. Among those are said to have been Phil Jones, Brandon Williams, Axel Tuanzebe, Teden Mengi and Shoretire, with the now PAOK star seemingly not in Ten Hag's plans.

When asked about his move from Manchester to Greece, the striker shared: "Of course, it was difficult to leave, but I felt it was the right moment for my career. PAOK seemed like a very good club to go to, and I'm very happy with how it's gone so far."

Despite a slow start to their European endeavours, United claimed a 2-0 win against PAOK thanks to Amad's double at Old Trafford. However, the team's display was particularly for Ruud van Nistelrooy's penultimate match as interim head coach. He will be at the helm again for the weekend's clash with Leicester City before Ruben Amorim takes the reins.
