All seven Man United games Kobbie Mainoo could miss as nightmare injury scenario emerges

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could miss the next seven matches, according to reports.

The Times has claimed that the England international could be out for a month after suffering a hamstring injury. The 19-year-old was forced to withdraw from Lee Carsley's squad for the recent Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.

Mainoo picked up the problem during the goalless draw against Aston Villa on the eve of the international break. The midfielder has been one of the key members of Erik ten Hag's side after impressing the Dutchman.

His fine performances have led to a permanent role in the first-team as he edges towards a landmark 50th appearance. Mainoo's form last season saw him fast-tracked into the Three Lions first-team and he was included in the European Championships squad that suffered defeat in the final against Spain.

"Injuries do not help, for sure; you need players available to perform," Erik ten Hag said.

"Kobbie and Harry are out for a couple of weeks, but Mazraoui is good news. He has returned on the training pitch and is available tomorrow."

United face an important period between the return of the Premier League this weekend and the next international break in November. Ten Hag's side sit in mid-table facing a crucial run of fixtures that could catapult them back into the conversation for European qualification.
