Man United share Leny Yoro injury update with new four-word message

Manchester United have confirmed defender Leny Yoro is on the "comeback trail" as he recovers from an ankle injury he sustained in pre-season.

The 18-year-old is yet to play a competitive game for Erik ten Hag's side since his £52m move for Lille after fracturing his metatarsal in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal in July.

As part of his recovery, Yoro underwent surgery on the issue in August as he bid to make a return to full fitness in November and aid United's Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

On Wednesday, the Frenchman appeared to be making sufficient progress towards that milestone as Manchester United's official social media channels posted a clip of him running on an anti-gravity treadmill, captioned: "On the comeback trail".

Asked about the progress of United's summer signing last month, Ten Hag said: "Yes, he is doing very well. It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon, is that he is now in the right planning process.

"He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training."

Ten Hag had previously said: "That's part of football, that's part of top football especially, that you come into, you go to the edge, every player has to go to the edge.

"And yeah, then injuries are not avoidable. But of course, we have to be ready as a club and as a team to cover this and the players are dealing very well with this setback."
