I believe Thomas Frank would get the best out of Manchester United stars - he can deal with egos

Former Premier League goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen believes Thomas Frank would command the respect to get the best out of Manchester United's stars.

Erik ten Hag has been under increasing pressure at Old Trafford following United's run of just two wins from the opening seven games of the Premier League season.

Brentford manager Frank is one of several managers - along with Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel before his appointment as England manager earlier this week - who have been touted as potential replacements if the Dutchman were to lose his job.

The 51-year-old Dane was appointed as manager of the Bees in October 2018 after Dean Smith left for Aston Villa and oversaw the Bees' first promotion to the Premier League less than three years later.

And speaking to Bedste, Frank's countryman Sorensen believes the Brentford manager is the ideal replacement for Ten Hag at United.

"Thomas Frank has a great pedigree in Denmark having developed so much talent with the youth teams and what he has done at Brentford is incredible," said the former Stoke City and Aston Villa shot-stopper.

"He has created a very specific culture and a playing style while recruiting players that fit his structure. He is a likeable character that has created a great atmosphere there.

"Tactically, he’s among the best in the Premier League despite having a relatively small budget and has been able to turn some players’ careers around with his man management."

But most importantly, Sorensen thinks Frank has the personality to get the best out of top players such as Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro at Old Trafford.

"Thomas Frank has the skill and the respect to be a success at Manchester United. He has the respect to be able to deal with top players and big egos there," added Sorensen.

"I think he’s ready to take on a job of that size and although he’s happy at Brentford, who knows what might happen. He could also be a Denmark manager in the future but that’s not on his radar right now.

"Frank could get everyone back on the same page again at Old Trafford and in the same direction, he’s proven that he’d be able to get the best out of the players."
