What Man City squad think of Erling Haaland's form as Jeremy Doku makes honest admission

Manchester City didn't have it all their own way against Fulham on Saturday but, as all champions do, they just about did enough to see themselves over the line.

A late goal from Jeremy Doku was the difference as City edged past the Cotagers 3-2. Pep Guardiola's side head into the international break second in the table, just a point off Liverpool and one of only two unbeaten teams in the league this season.

Doku reflects on recent form

Forget Erling Haaland, Manchester City have a new form forward.

Haaland's 11 goals in 10 games for City is a ridiculous figure. It's one we take for granted, but it's also true that nine of those goals came in the first five appearances of the season and just two in his last five.

It's hardly a concern by any stretch - he's had barely any space to operate and City have also been here before. So when Haaland isn't able to fire, they need someone else to step up. Last season it was often Phil Foden. On Saturday it was Jeremy Doku.

What squad think of Haaland's form

It was always going to happen.

After nine goals in four games, Erling Haaland was always going to slow down his goalscoring. Even for him, it's just not possible to score a hat-trick every game.

Pep Guardiola has highlighted the issues facing the striker that are stopping him from finding the net so regularly. Against Inter Milan, Guardiola pointed out that Haaland had six players around him. He was up against the best (or second-best) defensive partnership in the Premier League against Arsenal.
