FC Barcelona star Gavi could return to action for his club following the international break according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited anonymous sources.

The youngster hasn't been seen donning Blaugrana in a professional capacity since one such break in November 2023.

Against Georgia, in what was pretty much a dead-rubber Euro 2024 qualifier, the midfielder ended up tearing his ACL causing him to miss the rest of the club season and also Spain's victorious campaign in the aforementioned continental competition.

According to Mundo Deportivo, though, he could finally return to the pitch a year and a day since that setback, and more specifically against the Andalusian rivals of his first club Real Betis.

Barca head coach Hansi Flick is mulling over possibly giving Gavi minutes on October 20 when Sevilla travel to the Montjuic Stadium looking to cause an upset for the current league leaders.

Even if the number 6 was only afforded a short cameo, him merely gracing the pitch would provide a nice moment for the player and fans alike.

As a favourite among Culers for his unquestionable love of the club and dedication to the cause, Gavi would be guaranteed a standing ovation, it what would be a good boost for morale all round before Barca has three huge matches ahead including a Champions League meeting with Flick's former employers Bayern Munich, arch nemesis Real Madrid and crosstown rivals Espanyol.

It has always been said that Gavi will not be rushed back into the elite and his inclusion will be gradual.

Judging by clips of training shared to social media, however, the 20-year-old is raring to go, and even looks to have been told to calm down by Flick in some instances.

That's Gavi, however, previously described by Flick's predecessor Xavi Hernandez has a "heart with legs" that is the "soul of the team".

And when he does finally take to the pitch and recaptures starting prominence, Gavi will in effect be a new signing for Flick that he hasn't yet had the pleasure of being able to include as part of his first team plans.
