The new TGL indoor, team golf league co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy has unveiled the schedule for its inaugural 2 1/2 month season that runs from early January through late March, just before the Masters Tournament and the unofficial spring kickoff of the outdoor golf season in many parts of the country.

The first seven matches on the schedule will air on ESPN, including the season opener on Tuesday night, Jan. 7 between the New York Golf Club (Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young) and The Bay Golf Club (Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry). That prime time match comes after the PGA Tour completes its first event of 2025, The Sentry in Maui.

Woods will make his TGL debut the following week as his Jupiter Links Golf Club (Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner) take on Los Angeles Golf Club (Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Tommy Fleetwood, and Justin Rose) on Jan. 14. This Tuesday night match, with a 7 p.m. EST start on ESPN, comes a day after ESPN’s Monday Night Football NFL Wild Card game, which is typically the network’s most-watched event every year.

Woods and McIlroy are co-founders of TMRW Sports, which partnered with the PGA Tour in creating the tech-driven TGL. The league was supposed to make its debut in 2024, but pushed back to 2025 after the roof collapse of its custom-built arena in South Florida. The January window is key for the introduction of TGL, as the league’s launch, and broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+, will benefit from promotion during ESPN’s coverage of the NFL playoffs and the new 12-team College Football Playoff.

Players will wear microphones for the two-hour, live broadcasts, which will be held in a 250,000-square-foot venue that has 1,500 seats wrapping around the field of play like a basketball court. The SoFi Center, located on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Florida, is approximately the size of a football field (97 yards long and 50 yards wide), and features both “Screenplay” and “Greenplay.”

The former involves players hitting into an IMAX-sized screen (64’ x 53’) that’s nearly 24 times larger than a standard golf simulator screen. The latter will feature golfers hitting shots at a 41-yard-wide turntable short game complex that rotates the green and three bunkers to change approach angles, while 600 motorized actuators embedded underneath the synthetic putting surface morph its contours hole-to-hole.

Single-match tickets start at $160, with public sales beginning Oct. 29.

Additional ticket opportunities include membership plans, hospitality options, and other VIP experiences that allow fans to get up and close to the PGA Tour stars competing in the new-age golf league. The “greenside” fan experience will allow fans to see every shot live and feature a mix of technologies, from a 40-second shot clock to advanced shot data on screens within the arena.

Combining the star power of many of the PGA Tour’s top names with the energy fans have become familiar with in other team sports will create “a live, courtside experience for golf on an unprecedented scale,” said Mike McCarley, the CEO and founder of TMRW Sports, and former president of Golf Channel.

Debut Schedule

Each of the first four weeks of the TGL season will feature a single match between two teams, with Boston Common Golf (McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, and Hideki Matsuyama) not making its debut until Match 4 on Monday night, Jan. 27, against Woods’ Jupiter Links team.

The first day with multiple matches is Feb. 17, as ESPN will air a Presidents’ Day tripleheader on Monday as the PGA Tour wraps up its West Coast Swing with The Genesis Invitational. Those matches are at 1 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

There will also be three matches played the following week, as many participants will either be home in South Florida or in the area ahead of the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, just minutes down the road from TGL’s SoFi Center. Two matches will be played on Monday night, Feb. 24, with another the next night in prime time, all televised on ESPN or ESPN2.

The final week of the TGL regular season — Mnday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 4 — ties in some traditional geographic sports rivalries. Northern and Southern California square off in the first match (The Bay Golf Club vs Los Angeles Golf Club), while New York and Boston go head-to-head in the second Monday night matchup. The regular season concludes with a Florida-Georgia faceoff, as Woods and Jupiter Links takes on the Atlanta Drive on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. ET, potentially with playoff berths and seedings on the line.

The top four teams in the standings advance to the playoffs, which will be contested on the evenings of Monday, March 17, and Tuesday, March 18, following the PGA Tour’s flagship event, The Players Championship.

The inaugural TGL Championship will be contested Monday, March 24, and Tuesday, March 25, with the top two teams meeting for the SoFi Cup in a best-of-three series spanning two nights, with primetime coverage again on ESPN.
