UFC Edmonton Card: Start Time And How To Watch
by Trent Reinsmith · ForbesThe next fight card, UFC Edmonton, on the UFC schedule takes place on Saturday, November 2, when the promotion visits Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In the main event, former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno faces Amir Albazi. While in the co-main event, Erin Blanchfield faces ex-UFC strawweight titleholder Rose Namajunas. Also on the card is a heavyweight matchup between ex-UFC title challenger Derrick Lewis and Jhonata Diniz.
UFC Edmonton Main Event: Brandon Moreno vs. Amir Albazi
Moreno (21-8-2) is the No. 2 fighter in the official UFC flyweight rankings. The 30-year-old is a former two-time UFC 125-pound champion. Moreno’s first title reign began in June 2021 with a submission win over Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 263. He returned the title to Figueiredo in their UFC 270 rematch, losing that January 2022 contest via decision.
Moreno then won the interim flyweight belt in July 2022 with a UFC 277 TKO triumph over Kai Kara-France. In January 2023, Moreno regained the undisputed UFC title from Figueiredo with a TKO victory at UFC 283.
Like his first title run, Moreno’s second stint with the 125-pound ended without him making a successful defense. Alexandre Pantoja took the belt from him in July 2023 via split decision. The ex-champ then lost a split decision to Brandon Royval in February. Moreno has not fought since then.

Amir Albazi (17-1) enters Saturday’s UFC Fight Night main event as the No. 3 fighter in the UFC’s flyweight division.
Albazi made his UFC debut as a short-notice replacement in a bantamweight scrap against Malcolm Gordon in July 2020. Albazi won that matchup via submission. He then dropped to flyweight for his next outing, a January 2021 decision win over Zhalgas Zhumagulov.
Today, Albazi is a perfect 5-0 with the UFC. He is coming off a June 2023 split-decision win over Kai Kara-France in a UFC on ESPN main event fight card.
The UFC initially booked Moreno vs. Albazi for February of this year, but Albazi was forced from that card due to a neck injury.
UFC Edmonton Co-Main Event: Erin Blanchfield vs. Rose Namajunas
Blanchfield (12-2) is the No. 3 fighter in the official UFC women’s flyweight rankings. The 25-year-old Blanchfield was riding a nine-fight winning streak when she faced Fiorot in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card in March of this year. Fiorot won that bout with ease, ringing up three 50-45 scores from the judges. The victory seemed to put Fiorot at the top of the list to face the winner of the UFC 306 matchup between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko. Shevchenko regained the women’s 125-pound title from Grasso in that scrap with a unanimous decision.
Blanchfield needs a win in the UFC Edmonton co-main event if she hopes to stay in the immediate conversation regarding a UFC women’s flyweight title shot.
Namajunas (13-6) moved to flyweight in 2023 after her second run with the strawweight title ended with a split-decision loss to Carla Esparza. In her first fight at 125 pounds, Fiorot defeated Namajunas via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28). The ex-115-pound champ bounced back from that setback with decision wins over Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez. Namajunas looked very good in defeating Cortez in July. The 32-year-old Namajunas is the No. 5 fighter in the UFC’s flyweight division.
UFC Edmonton: Derrick Lewis Vs. Jhonata Diniz
Lewis (28-12-0-1) has headlined seven UFC non-pay-per-view cards since 2019. The former UFC heavyweight title challenger has also fought on six PPV events since then, headlining one of those events, UFC 265, where Ciryl Gane knocked out Lewis to pick up the interim UFC heavyweight crown.
Lewis is 3-5 in his past eight fights and 1-2 in his three most recent outings. He is coming off a May knockout win over Rodrigo Nascimento. The stoppage, which came in the third round, gave Lewis his UFC record 15th knockout. Matt Brown has the second-most knockouts in UFC history with 13.
Lewis enters UFC Edmonton as the No. 11 fighter in the official UFC heavyweight rankings. The UFC initially booked Lewis against Alexandr Romanov for this event, but that fight was scrapped, and Jhonata Diniz was slotted in Romanov’s place. Diniz is unranked heading into this weekend’s fight card.
Diniz (8-0) made his UFC debut in April 2024 with a knockout win over Austen Lane. He followed that with a decision victory over Karl Willians in August. Diniz had a lengthy kickboxing career before moving to a full-time MMA career in 2023. He earned his UFC contract with a first-round TKO on a Dana White’s Contender Series event in 2023. Seven of Diniz’s MMA wins have come via knockout.
