Hearts manager search latest as two new names enter the fray to replace Steven Naismith in Gorgie

The Gorgie club are still on the hunt for a new boss after sacking Steven Naismith at the end of September

by · Daily Record

Rob Page and Gary Rowett have joined the race to replace Steven Naismith at Hearts - according to a report.

The Jambos are still in the market for a new boss after talks with experienced Norwegian coach Per-Mathias Hogmo fell apart after the two parties could not come to an agreement over salary requirements. Former Blackpool gaffer Neil Critchley is also seen as a frontrunners to land the job, but Sun Sport now claim that duo Page and Rowett are also in the mix.

Page has been out of work since stepping down as Wales boss earlier this year after they suffered penalty heartbreak in a play-off for the finals at Euro 2024. The Welshman previously led his country to the delayed Euro 2020 finals after Ryan Giggs was dismissed and to the World Cup Finals in Qatar in 2022.

Englishman Rowett - who was accumulated a wealth of experience down south with the likes of Millwall, Stoke City and Derby, was most recently in charge of Birmingham City on an interim basis, failing to prevent them from falling into EFL League One. Hearts B team boss Liam Fox has been placed in caretaker charge until the club make their next appointment, and ended their eight game losing streak by rescuing a point at home to Ross County before the international break.
