Scott Brown on St Johnstone chief’s lips for next boss as club look to revamp playing style

The Perth club are in the market for a new boss after parting company with Craig Levein last week

by · Daily Record

St Johnstone's board will again meet today to narrow down their managerial shortlist after receiving a flood of applications for the McDiarmid Park post.

New chairman Adam Webb and his fellow directors convened last week to look into applications and other candidates who would be potentially of interest to the club. Ayr United boss Scott Brown, Aberdeen first-team coach Peter Leven and Larne’s title-winning manager Tiernan Lynch have all been discussed.

There are also names that have come in from England and Europe. The Saints hierarchy had wanted more background on a number of potential candidates before they decide whether or not to take things to the next step. They would hope to begin the interview process later this week and to ramp things up. The Perth club sacked manager Craig Levein last week and head coach Andy Kirk took charge of the weekend draw with Ross County in Dingwall.

Webb is set to step up his cancer treatment at the start of next week. It had been suggested that Saints would look to get a boss in before that but the club are relaxed about the situation. They want to have a thorough process and make sure they get the right man in, someone who will play the attacking style that Webb and fans want.
