Craig Moore has told Rangers the deal they MUST complete in January with the position one that has been needed for numerous windows.

The Ibrox hero insists Philippe Clement has to go and bring in another striker alongside Cyriel Dessers after admitting that the hitman doesn't score enough goals for a club like the Light Blues and they need someone up top to be hitting the back of the net on a regular basis. The striker has fired seven goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this season including the Scottish Premiership, Premier Sports Cup and in Europe. But in order for his old club to be 'competitive' Moore reckons they must add further firepower.

He told Go Radio: "I think that definitely another striker is needed. I think it was needed in the previous window and I still believe from what I’ve seen that it’s needed in the next window for Rangers to be competitive. There’s a long way to go in the season, but Dessers, does he seem to be the type that can go on a run of a full season? He hasn’t shown that.

“He’s honest, but he doesn’t score enough for me and for a club like Rangers I think a striker needs to be scoring consistently more goals so it’s definitely an area that Rangers need to improve on. It might not be someone that is taking his place, but it needs to be someone prolific.”

Meanwhile, former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell - now in charge at English League side Exeter City - has confirmed he wants Johnly Yfeko's loan turned into a permanent deal in a move he says would be 'brilliant' for the club. He moved south for the campaign from Rangers in the summer and has impressed for his new side.

He said: “Johnly is a young player with a huge future and if we could tie him down to be a permanent player at this club, then I think it would be a brilliant thing to do.

"Those discussions will happen and hopefully, that will be a thing where we can bring him into the club on a permanent basis because he is a brilliant player and a player with a huge future.”

“We have things in place where, if he does do well, then we will be the team that can bring him in on a permanent. That is in place within the contract, but those discussions will obviously take place with Marcus (Flitcroft) and the club, but he is definitely a player we want to keep for a long time at this club because of the quality he has now and also the potential he has.

“Once he plays more games and gains more experience, then I think he will be a top, top player. I think he has every attribute needed to be a top centre half, he now needs games to build his experience for that to become a reality. We are delighted to have him, he is great to work with and always willing to learn and wanting to get better. Hopefully, he can do that this season and maybe beyond.”
