Arsenal will be in action tonight in the Carabao Cup, two days after their epic 2-2 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Gunners are aiming to win the competition for the first time since 1993. At the Emirates, VAR will not be used for one reason.

The Gunners are undefeated this season and were close to beating Man City at the Etihad for the first time since 2015 but conceded a late equaliser.

On Wednesday evening, they will face League One side Bolton Wanderers in the third round to kick off their journey in the competition.

Will there be VAR in the Carabao Cup?

VAR in the Carabao Cup is different than in the FA Cup. In the FA Cup, the technology is used if available in the host team's ground, per Football London.

However, the EFL, the competition's governing body, will not use the technology in the opening rounds to ensure fairness.

VAR will be used in the semis but will not be available if a team without the technology reaches the final four. This means it will only be utilised in the final at Wembley.

Arsenal have won the competition twice, in 1987 and 1993, and after going trophyless in the last two seasons, Carabao Cup success could be welcome. Mikel Arteta was asked what a League Cup trophy will mean for the club.

"We want to win the game. We have to start with the first game. We have to understand what is the best team, the strongest team that we can put out to perform in the way that we need to be better than Bolton and beat them," via Arsenal.com.

Arsenal have had controversial red cards this season and will be looking to banish those demons against Bolton.

Will Trossard play in Arsenal's next game?

YEN.com.gh earlier explained why Leandro Trossard will be available for Arsenal's next Premier League clash despite getting a red card against Manchester City.

The Premier League rules on cards dictate that a red card coming from two yellow cards will result in an automatic one-match suspension. The suspension can be served in a domestic cup competition.
