'Team of the season' Nottingham Forest told which player has been a 'revelation'
by Sarah Clapson · NottinghamshireLiveNottingham Forest have been told achieving European football could be within their reach this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds have made a fine start to the campaign and have lost just once in their opening nine games. Ahead of Saturday’s clash with West Ham United at the City Ground (3pm kick-off), they sit seventh in the Premier League table - only two points adrift of third-placed Arsenal.
Former England striker Peter Crouch says Forest can lay claim to the tag of “team of the season so far”. And he is convinced there is the potential for this to be a special campaign Trentside.
“They are absolutely flying. They are seventh in the league, sixteen points from nine games and only two (points) behind Arsenal,” Crouch said on the That Peter Crouch Podcast.
“Where do I think realistically they can finish? There's a lot of teams unsettled in the top half of the league. There’s a lot of inconsistency at the top end of the league.
“Could they get into Europe? I don't see why not. Can they get in the top six? Top eight?”
If the Reds are to keep mixing it at the top end of the table, Crouch says Chris Wood will continue to be key. The pair played together at Burnley and Crouch is not surprised to see his former teammate in red-hot form with a tally of seven goals for the season so far.

“He’s been instrumental; he’s scoring goals,” Crouch said. “If you’re going to win games in the Premier League, you need a striker that’s on fire, and he is.
“I played with him. I said to everyone, you won’t believe how good he is in training - as a finisher, both right and left foot, heading, he holds the ball up, his touch is good.
“(Callum) Hudson-Odoi has been a fantastic signing as well, for £5 million. He’s been a revelation, really. He was being talked about as a £100m at one stage, when he was at Chelsea.”
